Summary:
Lead Packaging Technician This position will report directly to the established department supervisor to support all functions of the two packaging machines including, but not limited to, the listed below duties and
Responsibilities:
Have or obtain the ability to operate each function of both packaging machines Share responsibility with the department supervisor in training of all new operators Assist in all day-to-day operations activities for the department from a production mind set Troubleshoot and work through operational issues or repairs, as needed (guide and lead maintenance to help support repairs) Understand and assist with set up on machines during changeovers to promptly address set up issues that cause delays in production Lead operations teams in performing routine maintenance on the machines that are operator-based responsibilities (examples such as, changing rubber, greasing, clean up, changing fingers and minor robotic tooling repairs) Work with packaging supervisor and maintenance manager to establish preventative maintenance plans for weekly/monthly schedules Ability to fill in and lead department activities in absence of supervisor Facilitate production flow and cover breaks/lunches, as needed, when working short-handed Work with maintenance to learn and repair strapping machines and components Skills and Abilities Prioritize SAFETY first, then QUALITY and PRODUCTION Experience working in heavy machinery industries and/or working with various levels of automated equipment Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, climb and lift 50 lbs.
